The purpose of youth camp certification is to protect the health and safety of children attending camps. Maryland regulations establish minimum standards ensuring that camp operators conduct criminal history record checks for employees, provide health supervision, implement health and safety procedures at camp, report injuries, illnesses or abuse, maintain the camp facility and conduct high risk recreational activities safely.
