For Pharmacists

ImmuNet is Maryland’s Immunization Information System (IIS). It is a secure web-based registry operated by the Center for Immunization at the Maryland Department of Health (MDH). ImmuNet information is confidential and available only to authorized users.​​

Under the Maryland Statute §12–508 

  1. A pharmacist may administer influenza vaccines to persons at least 9 years old.
  2. A pharmacist may administer any vaccines listed in the CDC's recommended Immunization Schedule to persons ages 11 to 17 with a prescription.
  3. Prescriptions are not required to administer vaccines to adults, persons 18 years and older.
  4. Pharmacist may administer adult vaccines listed by the CDC, including vaccines recommended for travel.
  5. Pharmacists must report all administered vaccines to Immunet. 

Electronic reporting to the Maryland Immunization Information System (ImmuNet) is preferred, however, direct manual entry or flat file upload is available to pharmacies that are unable to report electronically.

The acceptable formats for electronic reporting are standard HL7 (v2.5.1 or other versions) and CSV file​. Methods of data transmission can be via SOAP Webservices or SFTP.

Pharmacies not already reporting can contact the ImmuNet Help Desk to set up connectivity and start submitting data. Pharmacies with multiple locations using the same system can submit data together in a single feed, however, each location/site will be assigned a separate Organization ID in ImmuNet.
