State of Maryland Web sites primarily describe the mission, scope, and activities of agencies of the Maryland Department of Health that are involved either directly or indirectly in cancer surveillance, prevention, programs, etc. Included are state programs dealing with cancer-related behavior and geographic information systems.

Center for Cancer Prevention and Control
The mission of the Center for Cancer Prevention and Control (CCPC) is to reduce the burden of cancer in Maryland by:

  • ​Providing guidance, support and funding for effective cancer programs;
  • Fostering collaboration among partners; and
  • Evaluating outcomes through data collections and analysis. 

 
Maryland Cancer Registry​
The Maryland Cancer Registry within the MDH Center for Cancer Surveillance and Control is a computerized data system that registers all cases of reportable human cancers (and benign central nervous system tumors) diagnosed or treated in Maryland.

Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan
The Maryland Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan (MCCCP) is a resource for all Marylanders on cancer control topics. It is also a guide for health professionals who are involved in planning, directing, implementing, evaluating, or performing research on cancer control in Maryland.

The State Cancer Council is an entity appointed by the Governor, charged with ensuring a coordinated public and private system of cancer control programs throughout Maryland.

Maryland Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control​
The Center for Tobacco Prevention and Control uses a foundation of community partners, state agencies, and local health departments to implement evidence-based strategies to prevent and reduce tobacco use in the state of Maryland.  

Maryland Vital Statistics Administration
The MDH Vital Statistics Administration collects information from death certificates of all deaths in Maryland, including cancer deaths. The Maryland Vital Statistics Administration administers birth and death certification and develops reports summarizing mortality statistics for administrative and public health use.​
