In February, 2007, Deamonte Driver, a young boy from Prince George’s County, Maryland died from a brain infection caused by bacteria from tooth decay. Devastated by the news of Deamonte’s death, a group of Prince George's County dentists mobilized and sprang into actionWith the help of many state and community leaders, the Deamonte Driver Dental Project was formed.  The Deamonte Driver Project provides basic dental services to low-income students in Prince George's and Montgomery County schools.​
